Still no consensus on Majwega

KCC and Bunnamwaya are now waiting for Fufa to make a ruling on who has the rights over Brian Majwega after presenting their compelling cases on Monday.

Issa Magoola, the Fufa players’ standing committee head, told Daily Monitor that the process of reaching consensus is now underway.

“We received documents from both parties but are yet to verify some of them,” Magoola said. His three-man committee also has Sula Lusonda and Matia Lule, the KCC coach.

Both teams registered winger Majwega in their 25-man squad for the 2011/12 Bell Super League. He currently trains with Bunnamwaya though he doesn’t play for either team. Aldrine Nsubuga, the KCC spokesman, sounded confident the dispute will be resolved in their favour. “There can only be one valid contract,” Nsubuga said. “Brian was misguided and we ought to guide him since he is our player. If Bunnamwaya really need him, then they have to use the rightful means of securing him.”

Bunnamwaya chairman Thaddeus Kitandwe scoffed at Nsubuga’s confidence and insinuations that the player belongs to KCC. “When did Fufa write to them (KCC)? They should wait for an official communication,” said Kitandwe. The same meeting was supposed to handle a case where SC Villa acquired defender Ayub Kisalita from Bunnamwaya but Villa never showed up.

“I was informed by a journalist that we failed to turn up (before the status committee) yet we and the player were not informed. In case Fufa and Bunnamwaya mess us up, the courts of law will decide,” said Villa director of football Joseph Kanaaba. Just like Majwega, Kisalita trains with Villa.

Nonetheless, Villa have elevated Denis Okot and Apollo Kakaire from their youth ranks to fill in at right back, Kisalita’s preferred position.
