Mowzey Radio murder suspect denied bail

High Court yesterday declined to grant bail to the prime suspect in the death of popular musician Moses Ssekibogo alias Mowzey Radio.

Mr Godfrey Wamala alias Troy who appeared in court on Friday to hear the ruling of his bail application was sent back to Luzira Prison after High Court Judge declined to grant him bail as he had sought although his grounds were found genuine with substantial sureties.

According to the desecration given to this court, in some cases court looks at the circumstances of the case, bail is either granted or not. This case is risky and of a grave nature and releasing the applicant (Wamala) into the public is a risk,” Justice Jane Frances Abodo ruled.

The judge also noted that she will write to the registrar at Entebbe High Court to have Wamala’s case cause listed as soon as possible.

Mr Wamala, through his lawyer Mr Ladislaus Rwakafuuzi, had asked court to be released on bail pending his trial before the High Court in Entebbe.

Mr Rwakafuuzi said that there is likelihood of delay in cause - listing his client’s murder case given the busy schedule of the court and the many cases in the court system which considers first in - first out system.

“Since he is already committed for trial, he has no chance to interfere with any investigations,” Mr Rwakafuuzi said.

However after court Ms Namara Caroline said that they will re-apply for bail since the law allows it as many times as you can.

Mr Wamala who was a bouncer at De Bar in Entebbe is facing a charge of murder of Mowzey Radio who died of head injuries at Case Hospital on February 1 following a bar brawl at De Bar, a popular hangout in Entebbe town on January 22, 2018.
