Nansana Police arrest suspected serial burglar

Police in Nansana have arrested a 24-year-old man for allegedly being in possession of stolen items.
The suspect, a resident of Luyinja, Namungoona in Waskiso District was found with a number of flat screen TVs in different sizes and models.

According to Police, upon arrest, the suspect was asked to account for the items in his possession; he however failed to provide proof of ownership.

“It is believed that the suspect has been responsible for several burglaries, thefts and house breaking offences in the areas of Nansana in recent months,” Kampala Metropolitan Police wrote on its facebook timeline.

The police made a breakthrough after they received a tip-off from the community about a young man who was bringing flat screen TVs almost every after four days into his house, something that had raised suspicion amongst his neighbours.

The police had been searching for the man the previous night in connection with home burglaries in the area.

“So far two of the recovered flat screen TVs have been positively identified by the rightful owners who told police they had previously reported to Nabweru Police Station, cases of house break-ins where a number of their properties had been stolen,” part of Police statement reads.
