KAMPALA: Hima Cement Heathens won their fist leg of the Guinness National Sevens on Saturday at Legends Rugby Grounds after two semifinal upsets in Jinja and Kyadondo.
After inflicting two painful loses on Heathens in both Jinja and Kyadondo, Toyota Buffaloes could not make it three when the two met in the main Cup Final as Romano Ogwal, Joseph Oyet and Aaron Ofoyrwoth all got tries to silence Buffaloes 21-12 in an end to end game.

“We looked great today and our opponents found it difficult breaking us down because had answers to everything thrown at us the entire day,” Heathens’ Kenneth ‘Limbo’ Okongo told Daily Monitor.
Heathens showed intent from the start, strolling through the pool stages 38-0, 22-0 and 38-0 at the expense of Impis, Warriors and Stallions . The Kyadondo powerhouse suffered a little scare in the quarters as hosts Black Pirates went down fighting 17-12.

Pirates dedicated the leg to former player Henry Rujumba who passed away in 2015 after collapsing while conducting a lecture at Kampala International University.
Ivan Magomu was disappointed they could not take the day but happy they played well.
“We hoped to win our home leg but it turned out a different story although we played well but it was not enough,” he told this paper.

Betway Kobs were a shadow of the Jinja and Kyadondo winning sides after losing five players to the Cranes set up.
