KCCA away to Township Rollers

KAMPALA.

Township Rollers coach Nikola Kavazovic expects a tightly contested, defensive affair with KCCA in the opening match of the Caf Champions League tonight at Botswana National Stadium. The experienced Serb says he has watched KCCA in action before and envisages the contest to be decided by ‘small details’ and ‘maybe one mistake’.
“It is very difficult to tell (who will win) since it is our first time in the Champions league (both KCCA and Rollers).
“We have extremely good players, the best in the world to me because they did something nobody had done in the country,” Kavazovic revealed.
He has done great ground work on KCCA; “I have watched Kampala (KCCA) against Mamelodi Sundowns and they did well, their experience is huge, but I don’t expect lots of goals.” KCCA manager Mike Mutebi, who has already expressed his willingness to attack in Botswana, says he is excited with the prospect of rubbing shoulders with the big boys on the continent.
“I’m excited with the type of football they (Rollers) play.
“They score goals even away and these are teams we want to play that don’t to park the bus,” Mutebi said.
He anticipates a thrilling duel between former player Ivan Ntege and Allan Okello.
“It’s going to be a very good duel if our former holding midfielder (Ntege) meets Okello.
“We are missing our first choice keeper (Charles Lukwago) but we are happy we played a do or die game before and luckily we didn’t get injuries.” Township Rollers returned to the top of the BTC Premiership log on Sunday after coming from behind to win 4-3 over Union Flamengo Santos.
Kavazovic intends to start with Keeagile Kgosipula in goal, Tshepo Motlhabankwe, Edwin Olerile, Kaone Vanderwesthuizen and Simisani Mathumo as the back four; captain Maano Ditshupo the central midfield anchor; Segolame Boy and Lemponye Tshireletso in the more advanced role in central midfield alongside wide midfielders Motsholetsi Sikele and Galabgwe Moyana; Joel Mogorosi the sole central striker.
Mutebi will most likely stick to Thomas Ikara in goal, Filbert Obenchan, Timothy Awany, Habib Kavuma and Mustapha Kizza in defence, Isaac Kirabira, Lawrence Bukenya, Jackson Nunda, Julius Poloto and Allan Okello in midfield and Muhammad Shaban in a lone ranger’s role.
