MPIGI. One person has died and other two other seriously injured in an accident that occurred at Mitala-maria village in Buwama Town Council, Mpigi District on Sunday morning.

The Kampala-Masaka highway accident was allegedly caused by a truck registration number UAS 402X that was carrying milk from Mbarara to Kampala.

Eyewitnesses told this reporter that the truck driver lost control, veered off the road, knocked a cyclist on the roadside and then rammed into a house (located in about 60meters from the highway) before hitting a tree which stopped it from ramming into other three houses.

“The way the vehicle was speeding like air or an antelope, one would think that either his brakes jammed or he was asleep on the steering,” Mr Jude Ssemanda, an eyewitness said.

The cyclist Adrian Ssebuliba, 20, died from Gombe hospital where he was taken by traffic police to receive treatment.

Others who were injured included; a truck driver and his turn-man who were not yet identified by press time.
