Oilers eye JKL revenge to prolong good run in league

KAMPALA. City Oilers coach Mandy Juruni asked his players to raise their performances after a mini slump in which they suffered three-straight losses including a 67-66 defeat to JKL Dolphins.

The reigning six-time league champions have since responded in style going on an eight-game winning streak that was capped by Wednesday’s 110-53 defeat of basement side Our Saviour.

The result, their biggest win this season puts them in different light as they face off again with JKL at YMCA this evening in one of two men’s games on card.

The Oilers are in better health now and the productivity Juruni called for after their first round meeting was evidenced on Wednesday as small forward Jonathan Egau led with 17 points.
His efforts were supplemented by Landry Ndikumana who chipped in with 15 points and James Okello 11 in a straightforward win.

JKL have meanwhile lost once since their first round encounter against the Oilers going down 80-54 to UCU and have won their last two games. JKL’s Brian Muramba who starred with 15 points in the first round meeting between the two teams will again be eager to impress against his former employers.

The other game this evening is a university affair between the high flying UCU Canons with a league high 13-2 record up against Ndejje University (7-7).

On Wednesday, A1 Challenge ended the last unbeaten run in the top division following 49-48 win over reigning champions JKL Ladies.
Ritah Atuheire led A1 with 20 points and 13 rebounds as they improved to 5-7 this season.
