The impact of Watoto Wasoka (football kids) has already shown itself in areas like talent development, but in terms of what is important, look no further than the week-long football camp that is being held at Nakaseke International School.
Officially, it was the seventh annual Christmas camp, but truly it served as yet another event to celebrate the re-union of former players.

An estimated 2,000 kids are attending the camp from 90 teams spread across the U9, U11 U13, U15 and the girls U18 categories. Francis Mugoya, served as a volunteer but now heads the project. Mugoya said the attendance doubled what they have normally got in recent years.

The chance to set interact with Uganda Cranes midfielder Kezironi Kizito, who now plies his trade in India with Kerala Blasters, one of their own as a member of the Raiders, proved to be a huge draw for the kids. He later gave the kids a pep talk.

“It’s just a special time,” Kizito said of this event. “I looked forward to this camp. I have attended this camp as a participant, now being where I am and being able to come here and speak to you is just amazing.”
Mustafa Kizza and Moses Waiswa are also set to visit the camp that ends on January 3.
