Teacher shot dead in broad daylight in Luwero

  • The Savana Region Police Spokesperson, Mr Issa Ssemogerere, told Daily Monitor on Saturday that Musisi, 55, a teacher at Magogo Primary School in Bamunanika Sub County was shot dead at about 3.00pm as he returned home from Bamunanika trading centre.

The Police in Luweero District are investigating circumstances under which a Primary School teacher and a resident of Mulajje village in Bamunanika Sub County, was shot dead in broad daylight by yet to be identified gunmen.

The incident happened on December 25 in Bamunanika near the King’s Palace as the deceased rode home on a motorcycle with two of his children.

According to eyewitnesses the gun-wielding killers who were dressed in civilian clothes abruptly blocked the way before one of them pulled out a gun and shot John Musisi at close range and quickly sped off from the crime scene.

Some family members and residents link the murder of Musisi to the unresolved family land wrangles and point at some members to have had a hand in the unfortunate incident.

The Savana Region Police Spokesperson, Mr Issa Ssemogerere, told Daily Monitor on Saturday that Musisi, 55, a teacher at Magogo Primary School in Bamunanika Sub County was shot dead at about 3.00pm as he returned home from Bamunanika trading centre.

“We are still hunting the suspects who used an SMG rifle to execute the murder and as well investigating information that the deceased family was involved in a land wrangle that is already at Luweero Chief Magistrate Court. Preliminary investigations reveal that the deceased had a land wrangle with his brother who died on December 17, 2020. No arrests have been made so far,” he said.

Mr Edward Sunday Sserumaga, a resident of Mulajje urged courts of law to always handle land cases expeditiously to avoid escalation of conflicts.
