BUHWEJU. The Government Chief Whip, Ms Ruth Nankabirwa, has advised women not to be wrapped up by work demands at the cost of neglecting their marital responsibilities.
Speaking at St Kaggwa Playground in Bushenyi District last Friday where she was the chief guest at the district’s belated Women’s Day celebrations, Ms Nankabirwa noted that failure by women to attend to their responsibilities at home has forced their husbands to abandon them.

She warned working women and those in politics to avoid leaving their homes in disarray saying this is one of the major causes of husbands leaving their homes.
“Working class women please understand your men. Everything must be organised. You shouldn’t be in a meeting and someone calls from home to ask where his tie or socks are. You should sort all those before leaving home in the morning and when you get allowances, ensure that you buy some household items,” said Ms Nankabirwa.

Advised
She further encouraged women to carry out small chores such as washing their husbands’ underwear and socks saying this is one of the secrets to a lasting marriage. Ms Nankabirwa urged men to be supportive and avoid interfering with efforts by women to bring positive change into their homes.
“Men, we are determined to give birth and look after your children but be supportive and let your wives go out and work. Don’t keep them at home doing nothing,” she said.
She also asked young girls to study in order to compete favourably in the world where everyone is looking for knowledge.
