Nyamityobora put their off-pitch issues aside to pick a valuable point as they drew 1-1 with Kataka at the Mbale Municipal stadium.

Last season’s golden boot winner Clinton Kamugisha struck mid-second half to put the visitors ahead but defender Hassan Wadenga saved the hosts from blushes with a late equaliser heading from a Steven Namaisi long throw.

The Mbarara-based side was rumoured to have appointed Ibrahim Kirya as head coach but had to turn to their team doctor Anita Nayebare to issue instructions from the touchline as no other qualified coach was available.

“I’m the team doctor but when the head coach and the assistants are not available, I can act,” Nayebare explained after the game.

“The coach has some problems, he is sick and that’s the reason he wasn’t there. We travelled the whole night and reached it when the players were a bit tired but we managed to play well but, unfortunately, failed to pick all points.

The team’s leadership was left in more uncertainty after the now-former club president Ben Misagga crossed back to SC Villa.

In Lira, Michael Siu, James Okiror and Denis Otim were all on target as Blacks Power mastered their first win beating Myda 3-0 in their debut match in Lira City.

The team lost 3-2 to Kitara in the season opener last week but looked good and lively in front of the new fanbase. Blacks Power, owned by National Council of Sports Secretary-General Dr. Patrick Ogwel recently shifted its base from Bukedea to the northern Uganda city.
