KAMPALA. Heathens captain Michael Wokorach has lauded his teammates and at the same time warned the chasing pack that his side might have picked up momentum at the right time even without pivotal Phillip Wokorach who is away for trials at Esher RFC, in the United Kingdom.
“We have finally found our rhythm at the right time of the season. Everything is ticking in the right direction, the way we played today says it all,” he said after Heathens defeated Mongers 33-05 on Saturday.
Heathens came into the game knowing that Kobs had assumed top place after whitewashing Warriors 48-00 and only a bonus point win against Mongers would restore their two point lead at the summit of the table.
Tries from Mathias Ochwo, Brian Kikawa, Michael Wokorach, Faisal Gamma and Joel Kimuli left Mongers playing catch up for most of the game which saw Herbert Kato score their only points of the game with a try.
“We know that we have now lost four games in a row which has dealt a big blow on our confidence,” said Mongers captain John Wandicho. The loss has seen Mongers drop out of the top four for the first time this season, paving way for Buffaloes who beat Pirates on Friday at Legends Rugby Grounds.
Rhinos suffered an early scare when Costa Ngobi’s try gave Impis 10- 7 lead but quickly replied through James Musitwa, John Musoke and Herbert Sekamwa tries to condemn the university boys to their 12th loss of the season.
