Kampala. KCCA were the biggest winners yesterday despite the 12-time national league champions not kicking a ball.
Holders Vipers were supposed to cut KCCA’s lead back to four points yesterday if they were to keep it tight in the final straight.

Instead, coach Michael Nam Ouma’s Venoms played out a goalless draw at Mbarara City’s Kakyeka Stadium to give KCCA an all-clear with four matches left.
At 50, Vipers now trail KCCA by six points, meaning the former could clinch the title with a match to spare.

‘’We respected the opponents,” said Vipers coach Ouma, “They played a hard game, long balls and were too physical but we managed to get a point, which could count at the end.
“We still have four games to go and anything can happen because you never think that they can win all their games.

6-point chasm
“We are just separated by six points but since KCCA has more points than us, they are enjoying the leadership. We shall fight till the end.”

Mbarara City assistant coach Baker Kasule praised his players character.
“We showed big spirit following our loss to Villa at Namboole.

‘’We shall go with the draw and keep the concentration for next game.” Mbarara, who stayed fourth in their most impressive season yet, moved to 42 points.

Senkatuka strikes
Elsewhere, Nelson Senkatuka scored the only goal at Namboole as Bright Stars beat home side URA, while Bul’s Richard Wandyaka netted against Kirinya to settle the Jinja derby.

At Luzira, Maroons moved to 29 points as their 2-1 victory over Tooro boosted their survival chances.
Bronson Nsubuga and Isaac Otto scored for Maroons while John Byamukama got Tooro’s consolation.
