Tony Odur’s master class last evening elevated him to the elite Cranes hat-trick heroes and booked Uganda a second round date with Kenya in the Africa Nations Championship.

A 40-yarder drive from Musa Mudde completed the 4-0 rout to invalidate the Burundi Swallows coach Amars Nyangabo’s pre-match notes that his team had corrected the one-all stalemate’s mistakes in Bujumbura.

Coach Bobby Williamson’s boys on the other hand followed his pre-match message of attack, attack, attack and lively Sula Matovu and Odur led the orchestra.

Uganda struggled to get their game flowing earlier on but once they broke the deadlock on 25 minutes, they never relented. Odur headed in industrious Godfrey Walusimbi’s corner with glee for the Cranes to go into recess 1-0 up.

The Bunnamwaya forward scored his second three minutes after resumption and added the third on 66 minutes. Mudde scored the fourth off a free-kick 12 minutes from time.
Williamson happy
“It was a difficult game but I’m happy with the display. People shouldn’t expect miracles but if we continue playing well, we have a chance,” said Williamson after the match.

Injuries to Saddam Juma and Edward Ssali were the only dark clouds over Uganda Cranes’ victory.
